RUN RSVP: Saturday 01/26

For the Myrtle Beach Marathon crowd, this is your big weekend. . . the 20 miler! If you are doing the half, you could probably do your longest run next weekend and only use a two week taper which should be ample for a 13.1 mile race. With a longer distance, I bumped the start time up to 7:00 am. This is also closer to the actual start time of the race, which should help simulate race day.

Run Details:

  • Day: Saturday @ 7:00 am
  • Where: Harris Teeter
  • Route: 6.67 miles x 3
  • Supported: TBD
  • Weather: Forecast 28F at start and 37F at finish.
Like our last 20 mile run for Richmond, I am using a loop three times. This keeps everyone close together regardless of pace, and enables you to pass the train tracks six times so just one fluid stop can be set up. Regarding fluids, I will be running the Krispy Kreme and will therefore do my 20 miles on Monday morning. If someone can offer to put out fluids, speak up. It would be great if everyone did not have to carry their own. I can offer up a cooler, mix, cups, and Clif shots.

I have an early a.m. commitment tomorrow, so I'll be running in Wilson this weekend.

Pretty sure you these are correct. I did not check them again. If you click on the "Notes" in the map it has the written directions.

I'll be there as well.....probably something more like 10.

Also, don't make me force anyone into the routes I posted. These were jsut easy to set support, and helps motivate each other when you see other faces on the run. It also keeps people of all paces close together.

Call me a "wuss"--it's just too cold. BRRRRRR! Think I'll run mine on my treadmill. Everyone bundle up.

Well, at least we finally got one of the ladies to join us. Thanks to Tracy, Arthur, Jason, Gerry, and Kevin for showing up today. Tom was also out on the roads braving the cold - we even saw a few (very few) snowflakes!

Well, Kevin and Gerry are officially ready for Myrtle - they both looked great after our 21 miler! Let the "Taper Madness" begin!

All right everyone!

The challenge for THIS marathon is a quick skinny dip in the Atlantic!

Also, those were not snow flakes. . . that was some of the glaze from Derek's 12 donuts that blew through the air from Raleigh back to Rocky Mount

I can still walk so I think I am ready for MB! Counting on the excitement and adrenalin of the race to get me thru those last 5 miles!

Awesome job everybody. Gerry, you'll do great. You've trained and you'll make it across that finish line. When you get to Mile 21, just think to yourself, only 5 miles to go! You've run only 5 miles many times. Stay mentally strong, believe in yourself. The pain is temporary. Pride is forever.
