National "Tell-a-Friend" Day

You may not know this, but today is National "Tell-a-Friend-about-the- First-Carolina-State-Bank-Half-Marathon" Day. The price increases this week, so lets try to do a major push to promote the race! There is somewhere around 130 total people entered so far in the 5k and the Half. We want lots more! So take this week and push very hard to spread the word. Here are some easy points to highlight the race. . .

  • Great Location - Close to Raleigh, Greenville, and Wilson
  • Great Course - Flat, Fast, and Beautiful!
  • Great Date - Take advantage of your fall training
  • Cheap - The race is only 35 bucks and includes a shirt and medal
  • Family Friendly - Kids races and a 5k!
The RMEC is the voice of running in Rocky Mount. We need to do everything we can to help push up the enrollment numbers. With the Old Reliable Race last week, plus some recent advertising, enrollments should be picking up. Lets do our part to help out! Use email, phone calls, message boards, web sites, brochures, etc. to help us promote the event. Remember kid races need to register by paper application.

It is working! We are now over 200 entries in the race, with the vast majority signing up for the Half Marathon.

Today alone there have been 30 entires. Keep spreading the word!

Remember, for the kid races, you need to fill out the application by hand. You can print them from the race site. Over 100 kids signed up this past weekend for our race at the Old Reliable in Raleigh!

This is really happening guys. We have a race in ROCKY MOUNT.

I have a portable PA that I'd like to set up in Battle Park to play music as runners pass by. I need a volunteer to man it for about 2 hours (1st to last runner) Anyone interested can contact me at rpcr@embarqmail.com

If I can get another volunteer, I can put a camcorder in Battle Park to shoot (uh, record) runners as they pass by. I plan to put it on the web later that day as streaming video for all runners to see. A little help is all that's needed to make this race stand out.
